EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST TO COACH A WAIKATO TOUCH REPRESENTATIVE TEAM FOR THE 2022-23 SEASON
Expressions of interest are being sought for the coaching staff for the upcoming season. Please see below for expectations of your role as a coach.
- Must be available for the entire season (or have a plan in place should you be absent from any of those commitments ie: trainings, tournaments etc)
- Must agree to the Coaches code of Conduct
- Must agree to undergo police vetting
- Must attend set workshops provided by Waikato Touch Association
- Must provide us with your coaching philosophy and your plan for the season
COACHING APPOINTMENT TIMELINE IS AS FOLLOWS
- Youth (U16-U18) and Nationals (Opens & Masters) applications will close on Friday 27th May 2022
- Youth (U16-U18) interviews will take place from 6th June and Nationals (Opens and Masters) interviews will take place from the 13th June.
- Junior coaching interviews will take place afterwards with the emphasis of a majority of our coaches being appointed by the end of June.
- Trials will take place in October/November (Dates to be advised)
For each of the age grades please see requirements for your coaching role.
Junior (U10s-U14s)
- Minimum Foundation coaching course or working towards one.
- At least 1 year coaching experience with a similar age grade to the role you’re expressing your interest for.
- For new coaches, we require you to attend a couple of trainings of a seasoned coach as well as take notes from inside their sub box for your own development.
- We encourage you play touch throughout the season (even in a social aspect) to develop tactical skills
JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS
- U10 Boys, U10 Girls
- U12 Boys, U12 Girls
- U14 Boys, U14 Girls, U14 Mixed
YOUTH NATIONALS (U16s-U18s)
- Minimum Development coaching course or working towards one. (MUST BE REGISTERED TO ATTEND ONE BEFORE THE FIRST TRIAL TAKES PLACE)
- At least 3 years coaching experience with a similar age group to the role you're expressing your interest for.
- For new coaches, we require you to attend a couple of trainings of a seasoned coach as well as take notes from inside their sub box for your own development. We also request that you have coaching experience at an IPS level
- We encourage you play touch throughout the season (even in a social aspect) to encourage tactical skills.
YOUTH NATIONALS TEAMS
- U16 Boys, U16 Boys Development, U16 Girls, U16 Girls Development, U16 Mixed
- U18 Boys, U18 Girls, U18 Mixed
OPENS, MASTERS NATIONALS (U21s-O55s)
- Minimum Development coaching course or working towards one. (MUST BE REGISTERED TO ATTEND ONE BEFORE THE FIRST TRIAL TAKES PLACE). We also encourage you to complete a Performance Coaching Course.
- At least 3 years coaching experience with a similar age group to the role you're expressing your interest for.
- We encourage you play touch throughout the season (even in a social aspect) to encourage tactical skills.
YOUTHS, OPENS MASTERS TEAMS
- U21 Mens, U21 Womens, U21 Mixed
- Mens 30s, Mens 35s, Mens 40s, Mens 45s, Mens 50s
- Womens 27s, Womens 35s, Womens 40s
